XLC

Electro-Voice · 2000s

Evidence status · documented

Identity and core specifications are documented; some historical fields remain unavailable.

Electro-Voice's XLC is the compact line-array family, distinct from both the conventional X-Array and the larger X-Line. EV's catalogue describes XLC for medium-sized festivals, concert halls and supplementary use with X-Line. The later Xlc127DVX and Xlc907DVX illustrate its three-way architecture, with different horizontal coverage patterns and integrated rigging.

Why it mattered

  1. 01

It brought coupled vertical-array deployment to smaller applications than the large X-Line, while retaining a separate identity from X-Array.

  2. 02

XLC model suffixes matter: specifications for Xlc127DVX or Xlc907DVX should not be assigned to every historical XLC version.

Engineering record

Later DVX variants
The catalogue lists Xlc127DVX with nominal 120° horizontal coverage and Xlc907DVX with 90°, both three-way designs with tri-amp or optional bi-amp operation.[1]
Deployment
LAPS aiming software and Quik-Rig or fixed-installation rigging are documented for these variants; the catalogue presents XLC as usable alongside the larger X-Line system.[1]
