Why it mattered

    Engineering record

    Design aim
Sold as replacing ten JM-3s, in practice six, with smoother coupling between high-frequency drivers; an analog bucket-brigade delay time-aligned the highs, with a gate to hide its idle hiss.[2]
    Drivers
    Used Meyer’s patented low-distortion compression diaphragm treatment.[1]
    Electronics
Dedicated processor/amplifier system with an instant hot-backup fail-over circuit designed by Cavin; multicore speaker cables on military-grade hardware.[2]
