Why it mattered

  1. 01

Commercialized a repeatable full-frequency line-source system governed by Wavefront Sculpture Technology.

  2. 02

Made array geometry, rigging, processing presets, and prediction part of one deployment method.

Engineering record

Configuration
Each active three-way enclosure used two 15-inch LF drivers, four 7-inch MF drivers, and two 1.4-inch HF drivers feeding DOSC waveguides.[1]
Array geometry
Inter-element vertical angles were adjustable to five degrees, with 90-degree horizontal coverage.[1]

V-DOSC was delivered as a system with rigging, processing, amplification, and training rather than a simple retail box.

Use in the field

V-DOSC's 1992 arrival accelerated worldwide adoption of line arrays for professional touring.[2]

Professional reactions

Later field experience · 2004

Pakulski reported excellent results from a four-zone PA combining V-DOSC, dV-DOSC, fills and subs, using D5 onboard processing and XTA crossovers. His enthusiasm was for the complete touring chain, not an isolated loudspeaker test.
