Why it mattered

  1. 01

Combined source positioning and room emulation in a touring-ready d&b control ecosystem.

  2. 02

Applied object-based localization to existing d&b loudspeaker systems through a central networked matrix.

Engineering record

DS100 engine
The original DS100 was a 3RU, Dante-networked 64×64 level-and-delay matrix.[1]
Software
En-Scene handled object positioning while En-Space supplied room acoustic emulation.[2]

Original pricing

No official launch MSRP located

2026 equivalent

Not calculated without a reliable original price.

A later UK rental price exists, but it is not an original purchase price and is therefore excluded.

Use in the field

Pre-release field work included Kraftwerk, the Ravenna Festival, and an opera production at Sydney Opera House.[3]

Professional reactions

“Soundscape allows us to do that. It's the truest case of the d&b goal of ‘Democracy for Listeners.’”
Ralf Zuleeg, Head of Sales Services and Application EngineeringSoundscape launch · Manufacturer-published case study[1]d&b audiotechnik · Introducing d&b Soundscape

Release-period reaction · 2018

Zuleeg wanted to move beyond stereo and conventional effects and compression toward new spatial experiences. His excitement was about a different way of presenting a performance, rather than another refinement to the familiar left-right PA.
